Ultrasound of lipotransfer in breast reconstruction after breast cancer
It is a heterogeneous, circumscribed , without vascularization on Doppler, mass. Shows a thin echogenic capsule, similar to an oil cyst. The diagnosis is confirmed by a history of lipotranfer in the same topography as the ultrasound finding. It may be palpable, generally suggesting a benign finding. Also known as fat grafting, lipotransfer is an aesthetic procedure in which fat from the abdomen, thigh or flank is removed and injected into the breast. The objective is to increase the volume, improve the shape or correct irregularities in the breasts or breast reconstructions after mastectomy.
